(updated 8th may 2008)

hi all..

Well just to let you all know, the showground is holding it’s own…… NO boggy bits.  Fingers crossed that we have good weather till Sunday.  Looks like, it’s going to be busy, with the CHAPS qualifiers and the Regional championship qualifiers.  We have had lots of enquiries… and lots of “new” people asking about membership! That must be good for us! As a club.  We hope to see the old & new members, attending on Sunday.  Our committee member that sorts the judges has again found us, panel judges.  So you won’t be disappointed.  I will ask, if you have any disagreement, with any official, you must talk to one of the committee members, please don’t approach the judge, as this leaves a bad taste, in the judge’s mouth.  We like to ask them back! And they are hard to find.

Hope to see you all one Sunday, 11th may 08.  Please do a sun dance for us! As it normally rains on us, at the first show of the season.  We need a change!

The catering hut will be open from 8.30am onwards.  The usual food will be available… and the entry hut will open at the same time.. Just for you early birds!

just to remind all you old members… you have missed the deadline to renew your membership, so this means the cost has gone up by £2 and will not receive your points at the first show.  New member’s will still pay the “old” price and receive their points at the first point show.

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

On another note, I have heard from one of our old members, Mr. Dominic Elsworth.  He is one of our top National hunt jockey’s in the country.  He had a fantastic, Cheltenham Festival, having a WIN on Mr MacGouldrick , a locally trained horse (Sue Smith) and owned!  Well done Dom!.. and good luck for Saturday (Grand National).  Dom has got the Ride on “Simon”   It is so nice to hear from old members, who have gone on to do well in their chosen Equestrian field.  I will try to keep you updated on Dom’s & other old members progress.  Believe it or not we have a few!

Hi all

Well the AGM has been and gone.  Thank you to all the members who attended.  I am happy to report, that in the first time in along time we made a profit.  A profit off £3,147! This will be spent wisely.. i.e. New Show jumps and a WALL! As well as having the showing rings made easier, although this will be on going through out the year and into 2009.  if ANY MEMBER would like a full financial report, please contact Rachel Smith, Club secretary who will send you a report.

Don’t forget we have C.H.A.P.S qualifiers at the first point show.  C.H.A.P.S will have their, own ring, running all day.  All C.H.A.P.S classes have being kindly sponsored by THORNTON 4X4 BRAKERS (Mr Peter Jones).. Thank you, peter.

Hope to see you at the first point show.

Lyn(chairman)

Quick update..

Well looks like we might have the Equifest qualifiers… which are a plus for the club.  As we are, the first in this area, to be awarded them.  I do hope that you, as members will take the opportunity, too take part.

As well as the Equifest.  We have CHAPS qualifiers at the may Point show.  So all you coloured fans get yourself into gear and get your tickets, first, at AVRC.  Veteran qualifiers will be held once again at the annual show.  Remember “2007” our “local” winner went on to Olympia. “It” could be you! You never know.

SHOWJUMPING: We are looking to send teams to the SJ champs at the USOC.. Junior’s & senior ….  If anybody is interested, then let me know.  All Horses/ponies must be able to jump at least 3ft6” ponies and 4ft for horses.  The courses will not be that big but to stand a chance, we need no fear!

Hi All

Well we hope you have all had a good rest and are now getting back into the swing, of getting your Horses/ponies fit for the coming season.  The show dates are up on the front page, so put them in your diaries.  Members, please remember you MUST pay your membership, before the 31st of March.  After that date, the fees will go up and you will not qualify for your points at the first point show.  Any new member’s will pay the higher fee but will be eligible for their points.

We are still registered for the qualifiers.. FOC.. Premier UK & USOC.  We are also looking to get the qualifiers for Equifest, this is a new venture for 2008 and will be held at Peterborough showground in August.  We are also hoping to get the Royal London Qualifiers once again.  Watch this space.   As a club we had some fantastic results at the championships last season, let’s hope we can do just as well this time round.  CHAPS qualifiers will also be included this year.

The Judge Co-ordinator has been working hard, to get different judges for us.  So there will be new faces in 2008.  Fingers crossed we have a judge coming up for DEVON! That will be a first.  Where possible all the judges are on one panel or another.

Nice to see some members out and about riding, it’s the only contact some of us have! As we all seem to get together during the season.  It makes for a dull life in winter.  Also please remember to wear your HI-Viz gear, so you can be seen.  A lot of Jackets are dark in colour and it is amazing how you blend into the background.  So a bit of Hi-viz is a bonus.  PLEASE keep SAFE.

If anybody has any news: new horses/ponies: Anything for sale, wanted, please let me know and I shall post your news/things on here

Will get the schedule up ASAP….. So you can all have a look… there have been some minor changes.  Nothing to worry about.

As soon as the Accounts have been done.. then the AGM will take place.. which should be mid march.

Thanks for taking time to read this.. and looking forward to seeing you all at either the AGM or first point show.

Lyn.  (Chairman)

N.B.  Any member who has not re-newed their membership.  Please can you do so ASAP.  It will make things much easier for our membership Secretary, if you do it before the first show.  She can then send you, your Membership Number, full schedule, Queue Jumping form and Discount Card.
